John Gargiulo
John currently serves as an independent board advisor to a number of healthcare businesses. He was the President, CEO and Chairman for Daiichi Sankyo’s US business from 2011-2013, after joining the business in 1995 as its first employee and subsequently growing it to a team of 2,500 employees and ~$2B in revenues over an 18 year period. He has a proven track record of building profitable businesses and turning around underperforming companies with a common vision, mission and strategy that energizes and engages team members to achieve outstanding levels of performance in both sales and profit. He is a results oriented leader with a continuous improvement mindset, committed to developing people and creating a performance culture.
John holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business, where he was named a Fuqua Scholar. He also holds a BA in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from Boston College, where he was awarded a BC Scholarship.
Jack O’Holleran
Jack is a co-founder of Aktana and served as Vice President of Sales and Business Development for nine years. Prior to co-founding Aktana, Jack was Vice President of Business Development at ICR in charge of scaling the firm’s Investor Relations Digital Media Division. Prior to ICR, he was Senior Manager of Business Development and Product Strategy at Motorola, where he managed business development activities and alliances for a suite of enterprise mobile software products. Jack was also a Sales Executive at Good Technology, selling the company’s mobile communications and MDM solution to a clientele that included half of the Fortune 500. Jack is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, where he played wingback and special teams for the Cornhuskers football team. He earned two Varsity Letters and was twice awarded First-Team Academic All Big 12 Honors.
Steve Roycroft
Steve Roycroft is an accomplished business leader with over 20 years of operating experience that ranges from launching start-ups to running multi-billion dollar global enterprises. He is currently the CEO of RANE (Risk Assistance Network & Exchange), an information and advisory company serving the enterprise risk management market. Earlier in his career, Steve led the sales and commercial efforts for CCBN (Corporate Communications Broadcast Network), a pioneering network-based financial information and technology company. After seven years of rapid growth, CCBN was successfully sold to Thomson Reuters and became part of its Corporate Services division. Over the next eight years, Steve led this division serving as the Global Managing Director. Steve then went on to lead the day-to-day operations of inVentiv Health Commercial, a diversified information, technology, and services company serving the global life sciences and healthcare market. He has extensive experience in building and commercializing businesses in the financial services, technology, healthcare, and media industries.
Steve holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Stonehill College.
Lalith Subramanian
Lalith is an accomplished leader with a track record of technology innovation and growing businesses of varying sizes. At EMC Corporation, he held various executive roles, including leading the healthcare business and growing it by building a new offering for collaborative healthcare. Earlier he was also GM for EMC’s compliance and information governance business. Prior to EMC, on the products executive team that led Documentum through its IPO and subsequent hyper growth in the pharmaceutical sector, Lalith was responsible for developing its compliance, eBusiness and web experience management software as well as for leading several of Documentum’s acquisitions. Earlier in his career, at startups, Lalith architected software for 3D visualization of plants, valuation of fixed income derivatives, etc. As an expert in information management, imaging and compliance, he has served on the Board of Directors and Executive Council for AIIM. He is also active in helping non-profits through the Stanford University GSB Alumni Consulting Team.
Lalith holds an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, an MS in Engineering from Ohio State University, where he was a University Graduate Fellow, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli, where he was a National Merit Scholar and a National Talent Search Scholar.
Technical Advisors
Clark Bernier
Clark was the original architect of Aktana’s multivariate optimization technology and built Aktana’s initial decision-support offerings. Clark is currently pursuing his PhD at Princeton, while continuing to contribute to technology development at Aktana. Prior to joining Aktana he was with KEMA, the world’s leading energy management and strategy consulting firm, where he was responsible for program and policy evaluation, technology research, and developing new techniques for analyzing energy-related data streams. During his tenure there he also oversaw the building of KEMA’s scalable software solutions. Prior to KEMA, Clark served as principal and co-owner of RLW Analytics until its purchase by KEMA.
Clark graduated from Knox College with a major in Political Economy, a minor in math, and honors work focused on the evolution of financial crises. He also has a Master’s degree in Energy Policy from the University of Maryland.
Pedro Alves
Pedro is currently the Chief Data Scientist at Banjo, where he leads their efforts in breaking new frontiers for uses of social data. Pedro has experience in predicting, analyzing and visualizing data in the fields of: genomics, gene networks, cancer metastasis, insurance fraud/costs, hospital readmissions, soccer strategies, joint injuries, social graphs, human attraction, spam detection and topic modeling, among others. Pedro is incredibly passionate about all aspects of data science and is constantly creating new techniques and algorithms to suit the problems at hand. At Banjo, his efforts are geared towards detecting and interpreting everything that is happening in the world in real-time, from major concerts and sporting events to major and minor news. These projects require pushing the limits of current deep learning methods.
Pedro holds a Ph.D in Computational Biology from Yale, a M.S. in Bioinformatics from Indiana University, and a B.S. in computer science from University of Notre Dame.
Adam Guetz
Adam is CTO and co-founder of Kelvin Inc., a company whose goal is to measure, analyze and understand motion patterns in people and machines to address consumer and enterprise applications. He has worked at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory doing computational modeling and large scale computing, and at Archimedes Inc. building models of disease progression.
Adam holds a BS in Computer Science from Harvey Mudd College and a PhD from Stanford from the Institute for Computational & Mathematical Engineering (ICME).
Tess Nesbitt
Tess currently works as Director of Analytics at MarketShare. With a solid background in probability and statistics, Tess is in charge of time-to-event modeling with big data at MarketShare as well as fraud detection, experimental design and analysis, and a broad range of predictive and descriptive modeling using both parametric and nonparametric techniques. After earning her doctorate in 2009, Tess was employed as a statistics professor at UCLA. She then took on the role of Director of Analytics at Datasong in 2010, which was acquired by MarketShare in 2015.
Tess holds a PhD from UCLA in Statistics and a BA from Santa Clara University in Mathematics.
